Babysitter Tips & Tricks

Do you want to become the best babysitter in the business? Check out my tips and tricks!

First of all, try and find a class at the YMCA - or another place you can trust - that teaches you so you can be certified in CPR. Parents will feel much safer knowing you are certified.

Flyers are good for people to see, but the best thing for you to hand out is a resume. Put your name and phone number on it, as well as accomplishments, training, hobbies, skills, and maybe even references. This will show how professional you are. Go to the houses in your neighborhood that you know have little kids to hand it out.

Bring a bag with you that has little toys, games, or videos in it that you know the kids like. Also bring a first aid kit, so you always have band-aids on hand.

Visit the little kids for 15 minutes for free (no cost) one day. Getting to know them early on will make the parents love you. Also, you can become better friends with the kids.

Always remember to get the parent's phone numbers and rules for the night before they leave. Be prepared to give the parents a behavior report when they return home.

Five to seven dollars is a good place to start on how much to charge. Perhaps for your first clients charge a little less as a discount for your being a brand new babysitter.
